1 Session Plan
2 Objective
• identify
the parts in a sentence that provide a complete thought
• make
meaningful sentences
• understand
the application of each part of speech and identify how it takes up different
forms in specific contexts

4 Presentation Description
The Facilitator is expected to follow the Presentation Slides
as a guideline for the flow of the session. The description of each slide is as
follows.
4.1 Slide 2
Set the right objectives to the participants. Explain to them
how w understanding the Parts of Speech would help them construct better
sentences both in written and oral communication.
4.2 Slide 3
Discuss about different parts of the sentence in brief,
referring to the student guide. The goal is that they should be able to
understand these parts in the context of sentence integrity.
4.3 Slide 4
Elicit responses from the participants and ask them to reason
out their responses. Encourage peer participation. As you debrief the
participants, steer the discussion based on the following concepts.

Suggest to create more sentences and identify the several
parts of speech.

Next, let’s discuss few examples to understand the correct
usage of these parts of sentences in spoken English. Explain to the
participants why going is unnecessary and also talk about the missing
article in the subsequent examples.

base verbs.

Jumbled Sentence Activity.
Unravel and identify parts of sentences. Divide group into
teams of 5 (Depends on the class strength). Hand out word strips. The team has
30 seconds to unravel, sequence the words to form a meaningful sentence and
then identify the part of speech for each word. Time them. Allot points to
bring in a competitive edge. 2 points to get the word sequence and 3 points if
you identify all the POS.
